The problem I find is that you are exactly right. Everyone wants to talk about ePublishing, book covers, social media marketing, et cetera.
I understand perfectly the wonderful opportunities for authors today, but still I'd love to talk craft with other writers who share the passion.Marta M. It IS a wonderful wonderful time...You nailed it.

It IS a wonderful wonderful time to be a writer. And yes, there are an awful lot of writers out there ignoring craft in the excitement over the "business."

That's the reason I have stopped hanging around in certain writing groups, where all they'll talk about is promotion... and any talk about craft is limited to how to hire a good editor. I wish this were not so because as a professional writer myself (who also happens to be a reader) I do value a well written story.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7589131949052086102.post-51444756002886821672012-09-12T14:14:34.827-07:002012-09-12T14:14:34.827-07:00Great advice. If you are writing now with an eye to self pub you have the best of all worlds (except the mega advance world, which was limited anyway). You can be in control of all the business stuff but also the important stuff. You don't have to bow to an editor's whim or live and die by a word count. It is a great time to be a writer.DearHelenHartmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01191525904664350294noreply@blogger.com
